Music theatre 'on the run'

On the run tells the story of a group of refugee children who travel through Europe. They are exploited by a factory boss who makes them work for low wages. The refugee children realize that they are being exploited and plan to flee. One day they succeed. Some of them play music and decide to make money with music. Music will eventually be their salvation!

On the run is a performance that reflects on the fate of refugee children. Thousands of children travel through Europe without a family or companion. They are extremely vulnerable. Through information and conversation we reflect on the fate of these children. Then we get to work to create a music theater piece around it.

Music theatre 'the flight'

The Flight tells the story of a Syrian family fleeing the war. It starts in Aleppo when the civil war is raging in full force. The parents are faced with a difficult choice: stay or flee? They decide to leave.Along the way they meet other refugees who share the same suffering. Together they continue their journey as far as the Mediterranean Sea to venture the crossing with a boat.Everyone is afraid because the boat is not strong enough. After a turbulent journey they reach land. The border police are waiting for them and have no intention of letting them in. The boat keeps bobbing on the water until a medical team sees the injustice and intervenes. They can land. Finally they are safe in Europe and can start their new life….

The flight is a musical theatre that encourages children to think about “refugees”. Who are they? What do they have to go through to get here? And which road do they still have to take after that? This is discussed during interactive workshops. After the conversation we get to work with the music theatre. Text and music are distributed among the children and result in an exciting performance for the wider community.

Music theatre 'the wall'

The Wall tells the story of two families: the Almaraci family and the Trumpelmans family.

The children of both families are friends and meet every day in a square in the city. Father Trumpelmans does not trust this "coming together", nor does father Almaraci. Moreover, there is a group of politicians who want to sabotage the meetings.

During a secret gathering, they agree to further sour the situation between the children: they decide to build a wall. The wall is finally built and the children of both families are separated from each other. They can only hear each other and shout their frustrations over the wall. Finally, they are heard by some adults who stand up and take their responsibility. They break down the wall again.

The wall is a musical theatre about diversity and polarization. One family from here and one family from elsewhere reflect the diversity in our society. The glasses through which parents look at their children are suspicious. They do not trust their children to interact with each other. There is no problem for the children themselves: they meet each other every day on a square in the city. Parents are under increasing pressure to separate their children. However, the children manage to use trust as a weapon against fear and polarization
